Meet Our Nurses




Debra Warren, Branchburg Central Middle School Nurse has been practicing school nursing in Branchburg since 1990. Her job is never dull and it is always rewarding and challenging. She graduated from Long Island University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She received the NJ Department of Education School Nurse Certification with a health teaching endorsement from Trenton State College. Her past and current hospital experiences have been in New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey. These experiences include working in the Diabetic Treatment Center, and the medical, surgical and behavioral health units.

Since 1990, her summer work experiences have included working in the Branchburg School District summer program as a school nurse; at Camp Jotoni, a camp for children and adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities; and in the Behavioral Health units, specifically the Psychiatric and Eating Disorders units at Somerset Medical Center, Runnel's Specialized Hospital of Union County and Morristown Memorial Hospital. Janet Hoffman, RN, BSN, MEd, CSN-NJ Stony Brook School Nurse has been practicing school nursing in Branchburg since 2002. She began her tenure in Branchburg working between Whiton and Central (5 years), thereafter she was the BCMS school nurse (4 years) and the WES school nurse (7 years).  Previous to working in Branchburg, she worked as the school nurse at Van Holten School in Bridgewater.

Nurse Hoffman graduated from Widener University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She attended the NJ School Nurse Certification Program at Caldwell College receiving her School Nurse Certification. She holds a Health Teaching Endorsement from Caldwell College and a Master of Science degree in Education with a Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Specialization from Walden University.  Nurse Hoffman was awarded the 2015-2016 Governor’s Educational Services Professional of the Year Award.

Her past nursing experiences include working at Morristown Medical Center for over 20 years in various areas of the hospital: a surgical unit; the adolescent clinic; the neonatal intensive care unit; and the maternal-child unit. She also worked per-diem on a surgical unit at Hunterdon Medical Center for 8 years, while working as a school nurse. In 2009, she traveled with a group of Branchburg Rotary humanitarian members to Ecuador. In the San Pablo medical clinic, she worked with many other health care practitioners, caring for members of the village for the “Homes of Hope Project.”


Susan Petrilli, Whiton Elementary School Nurse has been practicing as a substitute school nurse since 2000. She has practiced nursing for a number of non-public schools including Gill St Bernard’s School, St Mary’s Prep, and Gottesman RTW Academy. She has also substituted for our nurses at Branchburg School District.

Nurse Petrilli graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and from New York University with Masters of Nursing degree. In 2016 she graduated from Rutgers University with a NJ School Nurse Certification.

Her past nursing experience was in the Telemetry and Coronary Care Units at New York-Presbyterian/Weill-Cornell Medical Center and the Cardiac Step-Down Unit at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood New Jersey.
