The Branchburg Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports Branchburg Public Schools and Somerville High School by funding innovative programs that are not provided through the annual school budget.

These programs are offered to provide enhanced learning experiences and opportunities for all students to learn and develop outside of the core classroom setting.

Upcoming Events and Fundraisers

  • The BEF’s next event at Hummingbird Studio is a Spring Peeps Party on April 9th! Two sessions are available (either 5 - 6 pm or 6:30 - 7:30 pm).  Registration information can be found on the Hummingbird Studio website under “Special Events”. See flyer for details.

  • Read-A-Thon information was distributed to the Branchburg students through the respective schools. During BEF’s annual Read-A-Thon, students will raise monetary donations for reading as many minutes as possible.

    Registration is currently open, and the actual fundraiser will start on April 9th. Families should refer to the information provided and BEF’s Facebook page for additional details, as well as the links below.

  • Ticket sales are currently open for BEF’s 80’s-themed Pocketbook Bingo fundraiser on May 3rd at RVCC. Tickets can be purchased through Givebutter and are $45 per individual or $400 per table of 10.  Additional detail and link to buy tickets can be found on the BEF’s website and Facebook page.

  • In the fall of 2024, the BEF approved a grant related to six motivational assemblies for the Branchburg Schools, which was submitted by Beth Janiec, third grade teacher at Whiton. Funds will be used to sponsor two assemblies each at Whiton, Stony Brook, and BCMS. These assemblies address character themes such as believing in yourself, being the best person you can be, not giving up after making mistakes, respecting others, and the importance of friendship and teamwork. Whiton and Stony Brook will see an assembly called “Live Out Loud” while BCMS’ will see an assembly called “I’m Possible”. The assemblies have been scheduled for April 1st - 3rd.

    At their January meeting, the BEF approved two grants for Somerville High School, which were co-funded with the Somerville Education Foundation: 

    The first grant will help the students and teachers involved in the Valkyrie newspaper with transitioning to a new website and platform. The students and teachers have been planning this update for two years, and BEF is happy to help make this happen for them.

    The second grant was for an assembly titled “Louder Than Hunger: Inspiring Literacy and Social and Emotional Learning Through John Schu’s Literacy Journey” that was held on February 13th. Using the funds from this grant, SHS brought author and literacy advocate John Schu to the school to engage 9th grade students in an inspiring discussion on literary journeys and social and emotional development, in preparation for the school’s SEL Day celebration in March. Based on feedback from SHS, this event was a huge success and highly engaging for the ninth graders.
