The Department of Instructional Services directs the District's Pre K-8 curriculum development and revision in accordance with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, and oversees the district-wide professional development program. The district's student testing and assessment, instructional support, gifted & talented, and instructional technology are coordinated through the Instructional Services department. The Instructional Services department also manages Federal and State programs and grants mandated under No Child Left Behind.
The goal of the Office of Instructional Services is to enhance learning for all students and support the exemplary teaching that enables this. In order to achieve this goal, we work to:
Promote Professional Development
- Create a culture of professional growth and collaboration
- Facilitate opportunities for teachers to obtain knowledge and skills to support student achievement
- Model and support best practices
Provide Curriculum Leadership
- Maintain a curriculum that is responsive to the needs of all learners and reflects current, research-based best practices
- Implement a curriculum renewal plan to evaluate, develop, revise and maintain exemplary curriculum in all areas of the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards
Contribute to Professional Reflection and Evaluation
- Provide data, feedback, guidance and support to teachers regarding their instructional practice to improve learning and achievement for all students
Serve as Ambassador of the District Mission
- Facilitate communication among stakeholders regarding programs
- Establish and communicate a district vision for Curriculum and Instruction
- Support other administrators in their roles as instructional leaders
