The Branchburg Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports Branchburg Public Schools and Somerville High School by funding innovative programs that are not provided through the annual school budget.
These programs are offered to provide enhanced learning experiences and opportunities for all students to learn and develop outside of the core classroom setting.

Grants
At its April meeting, BEF approved two grants for the Branchburg Schools:
Mobile Farm School Visit for Whiton Elementary, grant submitted by Ms. Murn. A mobile farm, including goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, and bunnies will visit the Whiton preschool classes. Learning about farm animals will increase the children's’ appreciation for nature and the environment by providing an opportunity for students to interact with peers and learn social skills through role-playing and collaborative activities. This hands-on experience will also help students learn how to care for and handle farm animals. This visit is tentatively scheduled for the end of May.
Rolling in Clay Slab Roller for BCMS, grant submitted by Ms. Russo. The BEF recently sponsored the purchase of a slab roller for the BCMS art classroom that will help students roll clay to be used in hand building or sculptural forms. This piece of studio equipment will aid in the efficient production of making clay slabs that will be used to create flat pieces such as plates and trays, and more sculptural forms such as cups, bowls, vases, and other functional pieces. This equipment will allow students to build on their creativity and create works of art for years to come, as Ms. Russo expects all BCMS students to benefit from it for the next 15-20 years.
