Since 1991 we have been searching many avenues to help our buildings become energy conscious as well as upgrading old technologies to help improve ways in which we can save money. In 1991 we did a lighting retrofit project for the district by removing old energy wasters. We have continued with electric digital controls for heating systems and equipment, light changes to improve wattage savings with new energy saving bulbs. We have replaced windows and upgraded roofs to improve building envelope (insulation), and lastly removal of old HVAC equipment for new energy saving units. As you know, in 2008 Branchburg installed their first set of solar panels on Central Middle School. It has be linked to a site where the students can integrate the information to the education process to learn more about ways to harness and use energy. This is also teaching them that we want to save energy and lower costs in the district and enhance their education. At this time, 2011, we are installing more solar panels through the county at Central, Stony brook and Whiton which is totally free to us and in return we will receive a discount on electric we use and more education material for the students.
