What is TLC?

 

TLC is a community service club.  Its members work on projects that help the school, neighborhood and global communities. 

 

What are we working on?

 

Going Green is one of our main focuses.  

 

Our completed projects during the 2011-2012 school year:

 

 

 ü Helped facilitate locker clean-outs where students recycled their paper, plastic and aluminum properly

 

ü  Held a bake sale during the Talent Show to raise money for the Make a Wish Foundation

 

ü  Collected and recycled cell phones, ink cartridges, iPods, laptops and digital cameras

 

ü Visited the Somerset County Recycling Center to help the students understand the need to reduce waste, to close the recycling loop, and to keep the environment healthy

 

ü  Planted flowers in front of the school on Earth Day

 

 

 

Our completed projects during the 2010-2011 school year:

 

 

ü    Collected money during the school lunches and donated it to St. Jude Children’s Hospital

 

 ü Helped facilitate locker clean-outs where students recycled their paper, plastic and aluminum properly

 

ü  Held a bake sale during the Talent Show to raise money to help Japan    

 

üStudents in the club helped collect the paper from the recycling bins in the school’s classrooms on a daily basis.

 
 
Our completed projects during the 2009-2010 school year:
 

ü    Donated Halloween candy to our troops abroad.

 
ü    Donated items for those less fortunate to the Holiday Happiness program.

 

ü    Collected and recycled cell phones, ink cartridges, iPods, laptops and digital cameras. 

 

ü    Visited the Somerset County Recycling Center to help the students understand the need to reduce waste, to close the recycling loop, and to keep the environment healthy.

 

ü    Collected non-perishable food items and donated them to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

  

 ü     Planted daffodils in front of the school on Earth Day.

 
 
 
Our completed projects during the 2008-2009 school year:

 

 

ü    Collected and recycled cell phones, ink cartridges, iPods, laptops and digital cameras.

 

ü    Donated food to the local soup kitchen S.H.I.P.

 

ü    Collected worn-out batteries and recycled them properly – You can dispose of them on your own by putting them in a ziplock bag and dropping them in your curbside recycle bin.

 

ü    Planted two trees in the front of the school on Earth Day.
