GRADES AND ATTENDANCE Screen

The Grades and Attendance screen will give you the grades from the Teacher's gradebook. By clicking the grade a screen will come up with the assignments and grades received in that class. You have the ability to view past marking periods as well as the current marking period.
Anything that is highlighted in blue can be clicked to obtain additional information. On this screen you can click the assignment to see what was involved in the assignment/test/quiz. If you are viewing a closed marking period you will see the final grade as well as any comments that the teacher made for the marking period. If the grade is highlighted in blue you can click that for additional information as well such as a comment from the teacher for that assignment.

Continuing on the Grades and Attendance screen, you will notice attendance listed next to each class. By clicking the blue number for absence and tardy you will get a screen listing the dates.

At the bottom of this screen is the Daily Attendance Summary which will give you the days absent/tardy. From here you will be able to click the number and obtain the same information as the class attendance but specific for Daily Attendance.
Class attendance is for the teacher to know who was in class and who was not. Daily Attendance is used by the district and the state for your child's records.
GRADE HISTORY Screen and HISTORICAL GRADES Screen - What's the difference?

The Grades History screen will show you the grades received for the current year.
However, if your child was at BCMS previous years you can select the year based on the year tab as shown above.
Once again, you can click the blue highlighted number/letter grade in order to see the assignments that were calculated for the grade received. You will notice you also have the ability to view special circumstances for assignments such as "missing", "collected", "not included in final grade", etc.

The Historical Grades screen will show you the grades received for all classes taken at BCMS for all years. You have the same options to view grade information as with Grades History and Grades & Attendance screen. The view in Historical Grades lists the classes and grades in a column rather than by year as seen in Grades History.
EMAIL NOTIFICATION Screen

The bottom portion of the Email Notification screen is where you as the parent/guardian can select what reports you would like to receive directly from PowerSchool. As you can see your selection(s) can be one or all of the categories listed.
Select everyday, once a week, monthly. The once a week usually is received on Monday mornings.
Select is you would like it sent immediately to you.
List all of the addresses you would like the information sent to. The email addresses listed here is what the office and staff use for mass emails.

On the top portion of the Email Notification screen is your ability to to add and/or change the email address that the district uses when sending out emails. You will see what is currently on file and a place to change the address. Be sure to click submit at the bottom of the page when completed.
TEACHER COMMENTS Screen
The Teacher Comments screen will list any comments the teacher created for marking periods. These comments are also visible when clicking the students class grade.
BALANCE Screen

If you see a dollar sign on the Grades and Attendance Screen you should check the Balance screen for additional information. The school will input transactions when a student owes money to the school for a new agenda, lock, or any other financial discrepancy that may occur during the school year.
DEMOGRAPHIC INFO Screen
The Demographic Info screen allows parents/guardians to update their contact information for themselves as well as their emergency contacts. Please review periodically to make sure all the information is listed including the emergency contacts name and not just a phone number. It helps the caller to know who they will be speaking with. There is a section called Other Parent/Guardian which is there in the case of additional family members that have legal custody of the child. Change of address can only be done by visiting the school office along with proof of residency.
HONOR ROLL Screen
The Honor Roll screen is new this year. Over the last two years the system was unable to calculate students correctly so there are no previous year records. The Honor Rolls, Principal's List and Honor Roll List, are determined 2-4 weeks after the end of the marking period. Students who received an incomplete grade are given a predetermined date for completion so that the Honor's Lists can be created after that date. If you see an error, please don't hesitate to contact the office to investigate the problem.

GRADING
Student grades are visible to parents all year long. You can check the status of assignments as well as quizzes and tests.
Report Cards are not printed unless otherwise specially requested. The last grade report of the year will be mailed home. To view grades at the end of a marking period you should view them through Grades History or Historical Grades. Approximately 6 days after the end of the marking period, the grades are electronically stored and are considered as part of the students' permanent record. An email will be sent out from the office when those grades have been stored. Any questions regarding the grades your child received should be directed to the class teacher.
USER NAME and PASSWORD
If you should forget your username and password in order to access your child's information, please call the school office. At this time, you need a username and password for each student at BCMS.
