2013 Teacher of the Year and Educational Support Professional of the Year Awards

Ms. Dawn Eelman

Ms. Dawn Eelman is the 2013 Teacher of the Year Award recipient at Whiton Elementary School.  Dawn has taught in the district for 20 years.  She presently works as a 3rd grade teacher at Whiton.  Previously, she worked for 18 years as a 1st grade teacher.  Dawn is an outstanding educator who has a strong commitment to help all children learn and to help parents help their children.  Dawn’s comment regarding her nomination and her role in teaching sums up the nominations supporting her award:

“I strive to teach the whole child to be a life- long learner.  That’s what I want for my own child, that’s what I want for my students (and my colleagues, too) –….”

Mr. Michael Clark

Mr. Michael Clark is the 2013 Teacher of the Year Award recipient at Stony Brook School.  Michel has taught in the district for six years.  Currently, he is one of our Physical Education teachers.  Michael’s teaching and contributions to the profession are so outstanding that in addition to being recognized as Stony Brook’s Teacher of the Year, he was also selected as the district’s 2013 Teacher of the Year.

When asked what factors influenced Michael to become a teacher, he stated,

“Teaching has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember.  I have always found it fascinating to share information that helps people understand and improve a skill or concept.  My passion stems from my own experiences of learning and the thrill of accomplishing new tasks.”

Ms. Jane Blaus

Ms. Jane Blaus is the 2013 Teacher of the Year Award recipient at BCMS.  Ms. Blaus has worked in the district for 23 years.  During her tenure as a speech teacher, she has served students in our preschool program through 8th grade.  A self-professed life-long learner, Jane has continually taken workshops and graduate level courses to enhance her professional knowledge to improve the learning experiences for our students.  In her own words, Ms. Blaus “uses her expertise in receptive and expressive language development to isolate student’s strengths and areas for improvement weaknesses in order to design a program that will improve his/her skills to succeed in school.”

Mr. Walter Lipinski

Mr. Walter Lipinski is the 2013 Educational Support Professional of the Year Award recipient.  In April, he received this honor during the Teachers Who Make Magic Awards Dinner.

Walter is currently our custodian of Branchburg Central Middle School and has worked in the district for four years.  Previous to working at Central, he worked at Old York and has also served as our night custodian at Whiton School.  Mr. Lipinski is a valued contributor to our middle school family due to his efforts in creating a positive, inviting school environment.
