Suggested Outline for Lever Lab Conclusion due Monday, May 13th--This needs to be typed using a 12 point font. Put your name and period at the top. A neat handwritten copy is acceptable if you have computer problems or you can e-mail it to me in the body of your email. (not as an attachment!) You will also turn in your completed lab. Opening paragraph:
- Background Information on Levers
- Restate your hypothesis for the lab for Force and for Mechanical Advantage.
- State your overall conclusion for these two hypothesis
Body Paragraphs:
- One paragraph for each class of lever
- What did you observe as the load moved closer to the fulcrum for force and MA? use data to support your conclusions
- Use info from the questions you were asked in the lab and include examples of each from real life
Last Paragraph
- Mention uncertainties/errors in your numbers and any puzzling results
- Finish with a specific statement of how F and MA change as a load is moved closer to the fulcrum.

Monday Feb 4th Students should make a study guide or flash cards to study for the quiz tomorrow on sections 3.1 and 4.1 Topics include work, power, potential energy and kinetic energy. Students should be able to solve word problems to find these quantities as reviewed in class. They will be given the formulas for the quiz.
Tuesday Feb 5th Read pages on fossil fuels and create a list of advantages and disadvantages for their use. Students should ask parents about the advantages which are not well-covered in the article.
Wednesday Feb 6th Students should read pages 114-119 and fill in the text.
Thursday Feb 7th Students should read pages 120-125 and fill in the text.

Background Information on Pendulums--use research from class, cite the web-site at the end
Answer the Scientific Question: (use data to support your ideas)
What was the trend in data?
Explain why you got the result you did (show insight into the meaning of the experiment)
Restate the hypothesis, were you correct?
Closing
Do not include: Procedure, Analysis of Errors or Uncertainties (no equipment was used, the simlulation is virtually "perfect")

Tuesday/Wednesday 10/16-17 Make hand drawn graphs of all data generated in the Pendulum Lab.The following link is for the Pendulum Lab . Monday 9/24 Complete a flow chart for The Recycling Factory handout.
Tuesday 9/25 Study for a quiz on density and the metric system. Students must be familiar with all vocabulary, concepts and scientific unit on pages from pages 70-79. They should be able to find the density of an object and use that to identify it as they did in the lab on Monday and today.
Thursday 9/27 Read pages 18-23 and fill in the text.
Friday 9/28 Read pages 24-27 and fill in the text.

Tuesday 9/18 Students should complete a worksheet of metric conversion problems handed out in class. They should also answer all open question on the metric system lab.
Wednesday 9/19 Students will complete a second worksheet of metric conversion problems. They will have a quiz on volume and metric conversion on Friday.
Thursday 9/20 Study for the quiz tomorrow.
Friday 9/21 Read pages 75-79 and fill in text. Make vocabulary cards for the words density, temperature and time.
Week of 9/10
Monday 9/10 and Tuesday 9/11 Students should finish their lab notebook project and plan a presentation for Wednesday.
Wednesday 9/12 Students should review all safety information to prepare for a quiz tomorrow.
Thursday 9/13 Students should read pages 70-75 and fill in questions in the text.
Friday 9/14 Students should make vocabulary cards for the words on page 71: metric system, SI, Mass, Weight, volume and meniscus (not density.) They should put the word on one side of the card and draw a picture that represents it. On the other they should give a definition in their own words, an example from the text that shows what the word means, and copy the sentence where the word is found in the text. To receive credit for the assignments, students must have all aspects of the card complete.
Week of 9/3/2012
Students should get their science safety contract signed. They should have a bound notebook and prepare it for the year as described in the attached project rubric. The notebook is due Wednesday September 12th.
